Praia da Armacao de Pera is a very long sandy beach classed as an ‘Accessible Beach’ which fronted by hotels and apartments running the length of road behind with various cafes and restaurants on and above the beach.
Along the promenade you will discover the fisherman’s huts and their brightly coloured fishing boats and the remains of a 17th century whitewashed fort.
The beach at Praia da Rocha is large enough to accommodate visitors even during the height of the season. Praia da Rocha has an abundance of restaurants, cafes, and shops running across the top of the beach which is especially lively at night with a variety of bars, and clubs to choose from.
The Fortress of Santa Catarina de Ribamar is located at the end of the avenue which was part of Portimão’s defences against corsairs and pirates. Built in the 17th and 18th centuries it offers a spectacular view of the beach and the cliffs on one side and the marina on the other.
Along the coast near to Porches you will find a host of tiny coves and hidden bays which are ideal for quiet sunbathing.
